Saturday Severe Chances for the Central Plains Oct 18, 2017

Parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas could be looking at severe weather chances on Saturday.  Moisture will move north over Oklahoma and Kansas just before a strong cold front arrives by Saturday afternoon.  There will be enough instability in place for the possibility of strong convection.  Right now the Storm Prediction Center has a 15% chance for severe thunderstorms over eastern Kansas into north-central Texas.  Here is a look at the severe weather set-up for Saturday.

The latest timing for the severe storm chances will likely be for Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.  Parts of the Texas Coast into Louisiana could see a threat of strong storms as well, but the event is still a few days out.

Here is a detailed look at the latest timing…again…with this event still several days out there will likely be some changes to the timing and coverage area of severe storms.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary weather threats, but isolated tornadoes and some very heavy rain can’t be ruled out.

Here is a look at the latest rainfall forecast.

Stay tuned to Weather Nation as this event approaches…we will keep you updated and safe as the severe chances arrive on Saturday.
