Severe Weather Risk in the Great Lakes Tonight
An risk for severe thunderstorms continues across the Great Lakes today. An enhanced threat for severe weather includes most of Lower Michigan and Wisconsin. There is also a slight risk area in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The chance for a tornado is low today, with the biggest risks being large hail greater than an inch in diameter and strong wind gusts more than 60 mph.
A cold front dropping through the region will be the focus for severe thunderstorms throughout the night. With high humidity and warm temperatures, building instability from this afternoon will help to fuel severe weather.
The severe weather threat for Friday shifts into the Ohio Valley. As the cold front pushes to the south and east, the risk area moves into the Southeast for Saturday.
