Snow Continues to Accumulate in the West and Plains
Snowfall continues to expand across the West and will be pushing through the Northern Plains into the Great Lakes over the next couple of days. In the mountains, totals are already over a foot in some areas with more ahead.
Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for parts of North Dakota, Montana and Utah. Portions of ten states are under Winter Weather Advisories. The highest elevations will likely see more than a foot of snow, with 4″ to 8″ totals expected in the heaviest snow bands in the Upper Midwest.
The main low pressure center will move through the Central and Northern Plains tonight, pushing into the Ohio Valley Thursday. North and west of the low track, a band of heavy snow will fall, which could make for slippery travel conditions. A second low will keep snowfall accumulating in the mountains, mainly in the Wasatch tonight and Rockies of Colorado Thursday.
