Another Cold Night Ahead for the Great Lakes and Northeast

9 May 2017, 4:07 pm

Cold weather has been slow to move out of the Great Lakes and Northeast this week and well below normal temperatures are expected again tonight. Readings were in the 20s and 30s from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Western Pennsylvania this morning. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are in effect through Wednesday morning in portions of Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan.

A strong area of high pressure over the region tonight into Wednesday will keep the cold temperatures around. The mercury will fall into the 30s tonight over most of the Eastern Great Lakes.

On Thursday, the high pressure center will weaken as a warm front moves into the region from the West. 30s are likely once again, but widespread frost and freeze conditions are not anticipated.
