Another Day of Oppressive Heat in the Southwest
Triple digit heat was found in the Southwest yesterday and the sweltering temperatures continue today. A record high in the upper 90s was set in Brownsville, Texas on Tuesday. Highs jumped above the century point in Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
A strong ridge of high pressure has settled across the West. With the Jet Stream lifting to the north, the hot temperatures have pushed through the Four Corners. An Excessive Heat Warning continues into tonight in Arizona.
High will be well into the 90s over most of Arizona, with some areas climbing above 100. With the heat index, it will feel like 105 to 110 degrees in some areas. 90s and 100s will be found throughout most of the Southwest.
Temperatures will be almost as warm Thursday, with more triple digit heat. The heat index will once again reach 105 to 110.
