30 Nov 2017, 2:45 pm

Big changes are on the way for the start of December.  Arctic air building over southern Canada will spill south throughout a large portion of the U.S. by next week.   The temperatures that are in the forecast will likely be some of the coldest temperatures this season.

Arctic Blast!!!

A cold front will swing out of Canada by Tuesday, but it’s going to be a secondary front that really gets everyone’s attention.  You can see the Polar Jet Stream push south into the Gulf Coast states for next week.    The strongest cold air will be setting up over the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri.

How Cold Will It Be?

The latest timing of the cold air will likely be from Tuesday to Wednesday.  The will likely be stronger shot of cold air by the end of the week and into the weekend.  Temperatures could be 10-20° colder than the highs on Wednesday.  Record lows will be possible for some areas over that weekend.
