A geomagnetic storm currently in progress will make it possible to view the northern lights for some. The Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), has issued a G1 warning until 2am EDT. It is forecasted that the Kp index will reach a value of 6. The greatest viewing potential in the United States will include Minneapolis Minnesota, Milwaukee Wisconsin, Helena Montana and points to the north. It is possible that the auroras will be visible low on the horizon as far south from a line extending from Cheyenne Wyoming, Lincoln Nebraska, to Indianapolis Indiana. Get away from city lights, look north, and you may see them.
