Bear Makes Home in Downtown Duluth Tree
A bear wandered into downtown Duluth on Wednesday morning, causing social media to go wild. As soon as word got out, crowds began to gather to snap photos and videos.
The bear was first spotted about 9 a.m. in a tree near the corner of Fifth Avenue West and First Street in downtown Duluth. Reports around 5 p.m. central placed the bear still in the tree.
Duluth Police Department issued a statement on their Facebook page, stating that the bear has made several attempts to leave the tree, but due to the spectators, it was frightened to come down. Police were asking spectators to leave the area, so the bear would feel safe enough to leave on its own.
This is not the first time something like this has happened. A similar incident happened in May 2015 just a block away. That bear eventually climbed down and snuck away after the crown dispersed.
