Best Pictures: Severe Weather Recap

4 Apr 2015, 2:12 pm

After an active week of severe weather across the midwest and eventually the southeast, the weather pattern has calmed dramatically for the Easter weekend, but not after hundreds of reports of large, damaging hail, straight-line winds and over a dozen tornadoes.

Looking back on the active week that was, here are some of the best pictures that you, our fine viewers, have sent into us here at WeatherNation:

Elgin, AL
A possible scud or funnel cloud in northern Alabama during severe storms on Friday evening.

Afton, Oklahoma
Overturned 18-wheelers on I-44 after a tornado moved through Afton, Oklahoma late on Thursday night.
Hurricane-force wind gusts left over 70,000 in the dark in Kansas, many of those in the hard-hit Wichita area late on Thursday night.
A possible tornado in far southern Missouri caused extensive damage to homes in the Ozarks overnight Thursday into Friday.
Lightning made its way through the sky in far northern Arkansas, and tornadoes were reported nearby.

Things appear to be quieting down for the weekend, but a chance for more severe storms in the nations’s mid-section returns for Wednesday and Thursday. As always, we’ll keep you posted on it here on and on WeatherNation TV.
