Heavy snow and strong winds are in the forecast for portions of the High Plains into the Northern Plains tonight through Saturday. Blizzard Warnings have been issued in the mountains of Wyoming, with Blizzard Watches for the Siouxland region in the Upper Midwest.
Visibility may fall below a 1/4 mile at times in areas of heavy snow. Sustained winds above 35 mph are possible as well, creating significant blowing and drifting snow. The heaviest band of snow will likely produce over a foot of accumulations.
The low pressure center will advance out of the Rockies and into the Plains on Thursday. Snow will become heavy, spreading from Wyoming to Iowa.
On Friday, the low will slow down slightly, moving from Iowa into Wisconsin. Heavy snow will continue to fall from Nebraska and South Dakota into Iowa and Minnesota. On Saturday, the storm will spill back wrap around snow into Wisconsin and Michigan as the low moves into Canada.
