Check out the Frozen Niagara Falls!
Ever wanted to visit Niagara Falls? This might be the most beautiful time to do so. Bitterly cold temperatures over the three massive waterfalls that border Canada and New York State have caused Niagara Falls to partially freeze over. Temperatures in western New York have been brutal, even by their already cold mid-February standards. It hasn’t climbed above freezing at Niagara Falls’ airport (on the U.S. side of the border) since January 29th, and temperatures have mostly been in the single digits and teens over the past month. With that in mind, it’s not much of a wonder as to why the beautiful waters of the three waterfalls that comprise Niagara are freezing over.
The falls sit 17 miles northwest of Buffalo, New York, straddling the border between the Canadian province of Ontario and New York. They’re a valuable source of hydroelectricity, and for this week at least, a beautiful sight to behold.
