Coastal Concerns for Florida, Georgia this Weekend

11 Nov 2017, 11:50 am

Strong wind and rough surf is expected across the eastern shores of Florida and Georgia over this Veteran’s Days Weekend.

High Surf Advisories have been issued for the Atlantic shores of Florida, from the Florida-Georgia state line to St. Lucie County, Florida. In these areas, waves and surf will range from 5 to 8 feet. Rip current will also be a threat, as well as coastal flooding. Small Craft Advisories have also been issued across coastal sections of Florida, and for areas north, including coastal Georgia and the Carolinas.

This is all due to strong, persistent onshore wind of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. The wind is not forecast to weaken until late Sunday and Monday.

Stay safe this holiday weekend.
