Cold Air After the Snow Brings a Frost and Freeze to the South

8 Dec 2017, 4:08 pm

Snow and cold – typical December weather, but not common for areas of the Deep South through the Mississippi Valley into the Southeast. With the snow coming to an end as the cold front and low pressure center moves away from the region, cold air will bring the potential for a frost and freeze to start the weekend.

In some areas, temperatures are nearly 30 degrees below average. Readings will fall into the 20s from Texas to Mississippi, with 30s common throughout most of the South and Southeast.

The cold front will be moving away from Florida Saturday morning, replaced by an area of high pressure dropping from the Four Corners into Mexico. Temperatures will gradually warm through the weekend.
