Cold Blast to Bring Frost, Freeze and Record Cold

12 May 2020, 7:00 am

Winter-like weather made a return to the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast on Mother’s Day weekend with cold temperatures and even some snow. Another night of cold temperatures were felt this morning (Tuesday), with several record lows broken.

The last blast of unseasonably cold air will linger in the Northeast Wednesday morning. Frost and freeze alerts have been issued from Vermont to Ohio. The mercury will tumble into the 30s for dozens of cities in the Northeast, with a few spots seeing 20s.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Take steps to protect your tender plants from the cold. A welcome warm-up is ahead for later this weekend!
