Colder Air on the Way for the Northeast This Week

6 Nov 2017, 2:28 pm

One more day of the unseasonably warm temperatures for the Northeast this afternoon.  A cold front moving through the region today will bring temperatures down closer to where they should be for this time of year.  An even stronger cold front will be moving through the region by the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend.  That cold front will bring well below normal temperatures to the forecast.

Today’s Highs

When Does The Colder Air Arrive?

Right now it looks like the big swing down in the temperatures will arrive the end of the week.  Friday night into Saturday morning will be likely be the coldest so far this season for the Northeast.
Here is a look at the set-up for the cold Arctic air.

Once the cold front moves through Friday, a strong area of high pressure will be moving in out the northwest.  This will allow Arctic air to build over the region and that means well below normal temperatures.

Temperature Forecast

Below freezing temperatures are expected for most of the region by Saturday morning.
