Very cold air (colder than it usually is) will be moving into Alaska by the end of the weekend and early next week. Well below normal temperatures are expected from Barrow down to Anchorage for both morning lows and afternoon highs.
A large portion of the state will feel temperatures cooler than normal, but when you factor in the winds…temperatures could feel 10° to 20° cooler! A strong area of low pressure building over the Gulf of Alaska on Sunday will bring down the some of the coldest air so far this season.
It doesn’t look like there will be record lows in the forecast, but temperatures will definitely be colder than normal for several days in a row.
