Cool with Showers Possible for the Kentucky Derby

The 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby is this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EDT in Louisville, Kentucky at Churchill Downs. Temperatures will be cool and some showers are in the forecast for the Run for the Roses.

The cloudy skies will keep readings in the 50s for most of the day, with the high reaching into the low 60s. The average high for this time of year in Louisville is 75. The temperature will likely be in the 50s during the Derby.

A cold front will be dropping to the south, bringing the clouds and cooler temperatures. A few showers are possible along the front as well, although the rain will not be continuous or around all day. Look for a west to northwest wind at 10 to 15 mph behind the front.
