Critical Fire Conditions Expected Monday

16 Oct 2016, 7:18 pm

Warm, dry, and windy conditions are expected on Monday across much of the central High Plains region, down into the Texas panhandle. Southwest winds will increase Monday afternoon, with gusts over 30-mph at times. Critical fire conditions with gusty winds and low relative humidity are expected Monday afternoon.

Any fires that start will have extreme fire behavior and spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not advised in the outlined warning.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or are imminent. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Avoid activities that promote open flames and sparks.
