Shorter days our in our forecast! Not because the sun will rise or set any later than it normally does, but because the end of Daylight Saving Time is Sunday November 5, 2017 at 2:00am. This is the “good” time change, where we gain one hour of sleep. We gain this extra hour of sleep by turning our clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night, November 4, 2017.
Not only will the cooler nights and leafless trees get you into the fall setting, but with sunsets an hour earlier, you are sure to have no doubt that it’s fall.
Most cities and states across the country, but not all, will participate in this tradition dating as far back as the 1800s. The reason for this hourly switch twice a year is due to the idea of trying to conserve energy and to make the most out of our daylight.
As a friendly reminder, this is an excellent time to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector to ensure safety into the winter season.
