Daylight Saving Time Ends

2 Nov 2013, 2:30 pm

Here’s a reminder to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed this evening. Daylight saving time officially comes to an end November 3, 2013.

In recent history the use of daylight saving time has become somewhat controversial. Proponents of daylight saving time say that it conserves energy and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the daylight hours later in the evening hours.  Opponents say that overall energy usage is negligible and disruption that the time change causes to various systems is far more costly and inefficient.

Here is an interesting map.  Many countries actually do not observe daylight saving time.

 Blue: Northern hemisphere summer
 Orange:  Southern hemisphere summer
Dark Grey: Have never used DST
Light Grey: Have used DST only in the past
