Deep Freeze in the Deep South

Arctic air was in place as Monday’s storm moved through leading to .25″ to .75″ of ice from Arkansas to Tennessee and North Carolina.  Not to mention over a foot of snowfall for Kentucky and West Virginia, crippling millions. Sleet Reports Freezing Rain Reports

The silver lining, it was President’s Day which meant millions had the day off.  With that, thousands lost power and are still without power.  Add insult to injury, brutally cold air has continued to settle in leaving folks searching for warmth.

Electric companies are racing to get the power turned back on as another fast moving system moves in overnight tonight leading to more snow from West Virginia to Tennessee.  Snowfall amounts will range from 1″-4″ for the low lying areas while the mountains could receive close to a foot by Wednesday afternoon.

This system is followed by yet another blast of Arctic air into Thursday with highs struggling to get into the 20s for many while most will be in the single digits and teens.
