Early Season Frost Potential in the Great Lakes

8 Sep 2017, 4:17 pm

A strong area of high pressure north of Lake Superior will bring a chance for frost Saturday morning across the Western Great Lakes. The cold high will produce clear skies and calm winds, perfect for frost formation. Lows will fall back into the low and mid 30s across Northeast Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, Northern Lower Michigan and throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The high will start to drift east for the rest of the weekend and temperatures will gradually moderate. The wind around the backside of the high will push warmer air into the region. Highs will be in 60s and 70s on Saturday, with some 80s in Iowa.

Lows will push into the 40s and 50s in most areas Sunday morning as frost will not be a concern. Most areas will see highs in the 70s and 80s Sunday.
