A Tornado Watch was issued Monday afternoon by the National Weather Service extending into the evening.

Severe storms rolled through the area, prompting both tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.
By 5 p.m. on Monday, there were already multiple reports of tornadoes around Spartanburg and Hickory.

On Tuesday, the NWS confirmed that an EF-2 tornado hit the Spartanburg area.
Possible tornado damage was also seen at the Hickory Regional Airport, where major damage to planes and hangars was reported.
