End of Year Outlook Highlights Warmth

19 Sep 2022, 2:00 am

The majority of the nation is expected to see warmer than average temperatures to end the year. That’s according to the latest 90 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center covering October through December. Drier than normal weather is anticipated across most of the southern half of the country. The Pacific Northwest is expected to see above average precipitation.

With such a large area of the nation leaning towards a drier end of the year, drought conditions are forecast to continue and expand across the West and Plains. Improvement is expected in the Northwest and Northeast.

The Climate Prediction Center notes that La Nina is still present across the Pacific and that the atmosphere and conditions in the tropical Pacific region support those observations. La Nina is expected to continue into early next year.
