There is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms this evening across the Central Plains. Strong winds are possible later tonight, especially in Eastern Nebraska and Southeast South Dakota.
A strong cold front moving southeast will be the focus for severe thunderstorm development. Isolated tornadoes are possible early this evening, along with large hail greater than an inch in diameter.
A developing line of showers and thunderstorms will increase in intensity this evening. The strongest storms will develop south of a warm front and ahead of the cold front. The storms will sweep quickly east with damaging winds possible. As the storms push well ahead of the system, there will likely be a decrease in intensity overnight.
As the cold front moves through the Plains and into the Great Lakes, severe weather will be possible Wednesday and Thursday.
