The first tornado touchdown this month occurred yesterday afternoon near Manhattan, KS at around 3:50 p.m. It was a short-lived funnel that touched down inside Fort Riley.

An observer at the nearby Manhattan airport saw the funnel make contact with the ground. No debris or damage was reported.
The month of November typically sees an average of 58 tornadoes, as we wrote about earlier this month. Kansas usually sees one tornado in November, with states closer to the Gulf of Mexico seeing the majority of November tornadoes.
2009 is the only other year to have only one tornado reported in the month of November.
