Five Killed in Texas Flash Floods

A grandmother and her four grandchildren were killed in Texas on Saturday morning following significant flash floods as heavy rainfall continues across the South.

According to the Palestine, Texas Police Department on Saturday, the bodies of the five were discovered in floodwaters near their home as they apparently attempted to escape their flooded neighborhood.

Palestine is located Radar estimates showed over six inches of rain falling in the area in a 24-hour span, the majority of which likely fell in a 3-6 hour period late Friday night and into early Saturday morning.

More rain is expected across eastern Texas for Sunday and Monday, with more scattered showers and thunderstorms possible in the area. Any additional rainfall could exacerbate existing flood concerns.
