At 6:15pm CDT Friday, Hurricane Patricia made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane with 165 mph winds. According to the National Hurricane Center, the center of the storm crossed over southwestern Mexico near Cuixmala, 55 miles west-northwest of Manzanillo.
Moisture from Hurricane Patricia is expected to produce even more heavy rainfall for Texas this weekend. Parts of the Lone Star State could receive over a foot of rainfall by Sunday. Flash Flooding is a major concern through the weekend.
Already, Corsicana Municipal Airport recorded 13.25 inches of rainfall on Friday. North Texas Municipal Water District reported waste water from its South Mesquite Regional Waste Water Treatment facility had to release an excess of 100,000 gallons of domestic waste water into Mesquite Creek. The facility warns the public to avoid contact with waste material, soil, or water in the area potentially affected by the discharge.
Texas Department of Transportation is prepping the roads for the additional rain.
