Flooding Possible in the Mid Atlantic and Southeast
Heavy rain has been a persistent problem from the South into the Mid Atlantic the last several days and the flooding threat will continue through tonight. A slow moving storm system has brought significant rainfall, with totals above 3″ in some areas.
Flash Flood Watches continue from Southern Virginia southward into a small section of Southeast Alabama. An additional 1″ to 3″ of rain could produce flooding on over saturated soils and around high creeks, rivers, and streams.
The slow moving low pressure center and cold front will continue to produce showers and thunderstorms this evening. Pockets of heavy rain are possible. The majority of the system will move out into the Atlantic Ocean overnight, bringing an end to the heavy rainfall in the Flood Watch areas.
