Florida: Cold Weather Has Not Forgotten about You!

The cold blast that continues to plague much of the eastern half of the U.S. will reach as far south as Florida Thursday night. The passage of this cold front will usher in another shot of cold air to the Sunshine State sending temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average for this time of year and it will last through the weekend.

 

Below is a look at some of the average lows/highs for select cities as of Thursday.

 

Jacksonville: 44/68
Gainesville: 45/69
Orlando: 52/74
Tampa: 54/72
Miami: 62/78

 

A Freeze Warning is in effect Friday morning for areas in North Florida including Gainesville and Jacksonville. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 30 degrees overnight. Be sure to protect people (especially kids and the elderly), pets and sensitive plants from the cold.A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect Friday morning for a few locations in Southern Georgia including Douglas, Alma, and Jesup. Lows are expected to be in the mid-20s.
