Heads up Southeast! Invest 99-L Headed Your Way– Likely Next Tropical Storm
Invest 99-L is still more than 900 miles from Southwest Florida but will be the next rainmaker nonetheless. The question is, will it strengthen into a tropical storm or will it remain a broad area of low pressure?
The system has already brought heavy rain to Puerto Rico Thursday morning and the Dominican Republic is expected to see the same amount of rain which could bring flash flood concerns and possible mudslides.

The area of investigation is expected to make its way through Turks and Caicos followed by the Bahamas by the end of the work week. As it continues to trek Northwest, whether invest 99-L becomes the next named storm in the Atlantic or not, it will bring heavy rain for South Florida and possible flooding concerns for the Sunshine State.
There is much uncertainty with the forecast once we get through this weekend. Some models are hinting the area of investigation taking a Northwesterly track and possibly impacting parts of the Gulf Coast, while other models are taking the system up the state of Florida.
