Heat Settling into the Central Plains

10 Jul 2017, 10:19 am

Hot temperatures are settling into the Central Plains with triple digit readings found Sunday in Nebraska. Record highs were set in Valentine and Chadron.

A Heat Advisory is in effect in parts of Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. High temperatures will be well into the 90s, but with high dew points in the 70s, the heat index will climb well above the century point. The heat and humidity has pooled ahead of a weakening cold front dropping into the region.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s this week in most of Missouri. Average highs for this time of year are in the upper 80s to around 90.
