A ridge of high pressure over the eastern sections of the nation has brought heat and humidity to the Northeast. High temperatures Tuesday were well into the 90s with the heat index near 100 in many locations. Heat Advisories have been issued from southern Pennsylvania to New England. The heat should break with severe weather anticipated on Wednesday.
High temperatures will once again push into the 90s for today (Wednesday) from southern New England into the middle Atlantic states. With dew points in the 60s and 70s, it will feel extra humid. The heat index will climb well into the 90s in the heat advisory areas.
Relief will be felt across the region on Thursday as highs back down into the 70s and 80s for most areas.
Cloud cover and rain are in the forecast for the end of the week as Elsa approaches the region. A cold front will also be pushing across the Northeast.
