Narrow, focused areas of heavy lake effect snow continue to push through the Great Lakes. Nearly 2 feet of snow has already fallen in the snow belts in New York. Lake Effect Snow Warnings and Advisories continue in Michigan and New York.
Another 6″ to 12″ of snow is possible through tomorrow in Michigan. Squalls may produce 1 to 2 feet of accumulation in favored lake effect belts of New York.
A shift in wind direction has pushed the lake effect snow bands away from Pennsylvania, but the squalls continue downstream from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in New York. Snow showers continue off Lake Superior in Upper Michigan. The lake effect snow will begin to diminish Saturday as warmer air and another wind shift occurs ahead of a system in the Upper Midwest.
