Heavy Rain Potential for Florida this Weekend

7 Dec 2017, 2:45 pm

No snow in the forecast for Florida, but that doesn’t mean the Sunshine State won’t be dealing with active weather for the upcoming weekend.  Heavy rain chances are looking higher and higher as we approach Friday afternoon.

Heavy Rain Setup

A stationary frontal boundary is lining up right over central Florida for the end of the week.  An area of low pressure moving out of the central Gulf of Mexico will ride along this boundary and bring the potential for some heavy rain to Florida.

Latest Timing of the Rain

The rain will start Friday afternoon with the heavier rain arriving by midnight and early Saturday morning.

Rainfall Forecast

Heavy rain will be possible for all of Florida with the heaviest rain likely in the central part of the state.  Rainfall totals will be in the 1-3″ range with some isolated areas seeing more than 3″ of rain.

Severe Weather Risk
