Heavy Rain and Snow in the Northeast

4 Apr 2017, 4:21 pm

A round of heavy rain and snow is starting to move through the Northeast and will continue into Wednesday. Flood Watches remain in effect from Vermont to Pennsylvania for the threat of heavy rain. With cold air in place over parts of New England, snow is likely with Winter Storm Warnings for portions of Maine and New Hampshire.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3″ are possible, which could produce runoff problems over frozen ground. A burst of heavy snow may accumulate up to 6″ in interior sections of Maine and New Hampshire.

The slow moving system will spin through the Northeast tonight into Wednesday. Areas of heavy rain and snow will continue to into Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon, the low pressure center will lift out of the region and precipitation will come to an end.
