Heavy Rain in the South and Plains – More Flooding Likely
Another round of heavy rain is ahead from the Central Plains to the Deep South. With water levels still high across areas of Arkansas and Missouri, any additional rain will likely produce flooding. The National Guard has been assisting in rescues across both states which are under a State of Emergency.
Many rivers are well above flood stage and likely to go higher with more rain in the forecast. Almost 2 dozen monitoring points along waterways are seeing major flooding.
Flash Flood Watches and Warnings have been posted from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Nearly a dozen states are under alerts for a flooding threat.
Rainfall amounts may exceed 3″ in some areas, possibly falling over the same flooded areas in the nation’s midsection. The low pressure center will slowly move through the region tonight into Thursday.
