Heavy Snow Bearing Down on Colorado – Major Interstates Closed

WeatherNation Affiliate KUSA – Interstate 70 closed in both directions Monday night from North Airpark Road in Denver to the Kansas border.

The Colorado Department of Transportation blames blowing snow and whiteout conditions from the 156-mile closure.

A storm is expected to dump between seven to 14 inches of snow overnight on the Denver metro area – and more in the plains and mountains.

The weather also prompted CDOT to close US 40/287 in both directions from Limon to Kansas, and US 24 in both directions from Colorado Springs to Limon.

CDOT says CO 71 in Brush to CO 14 is closed in both directions also due to the conditions.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says all major roads in the rural Eastern Colorado county were closed Monday night — including Highway 40/287, Highway 71 and Highway 24.
