Heavy Snow Chances for Northern Rockies This Weekend
Snow chances will be increasing across the northern and central Rockies this weekend as an upper-level trough begins to amplify over the western U.S.. A cold front moving through Friday will bring in the cooler air. This cooler air and the upper-level dynamics should allow for snow accumulation in northwestern Wyoming and southwestern Montana by Sunday morning.
The forecast is looking very interesting for the state of Montana early next week. The cooling conditions and lowering snow levels could lead to accumulating snow for northwest Montana. Strong northerly winds behind a surface low strengthening over south central Canada early Monday morning. These ingredients could lead to moderate precipitation totals. Snow totals could exceed 4 inches for isolated areas in northwest Montana for the start of the work week.
