Heavy Snow Continues in the Rockies
The snow has been piling up in the Rockies and more is on the way today. It has been very slushy and wet snow, let alone heavy at times, making travel very slow and difficult. So far, the higher elevations in Colorado have seen the most snowfall.

Winter Storm Warnings continue through today in the high country of Colorado and New Mexico. Up to another foot of snow is possible in the highest elevations.
The wind has been strong with the storm system, with gusts above 80 mph. High Wind Warnings continue for parts of Eastern New Mexico and West Texas. The wind and snow will diminish this evening.
The low pressure center is moving into the Plains, pulling in humidity from the Gulf of Mexico. As the moisture is pushed up the mountains into the cold air, the heavy snow will continue to fall and accumulate. As the system moves eastward and away from the region, the snow will gradually diminish overnight.
