Heavy snow chances are in the forecast for the Northern Rockies Wednesday and early Thursday. A series of fast moving short waves extending along the Northern Rockies will be the focus for locally heavy snowfall. Winter storm warnings, watches and winter weather advisories have been issued for parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming through Thursday.
Wednesday Forecast
Snowfall Potential
Snowfall potential is looking very heavy for areas under the winter storm warnings where 6 to 12 inches will be possible above 5000 feet. Areas below 5000 feet are looking at a solid 1 to 4 inches total into early Thursday morning. Areas from Great Falls to Helena could get locally higher totals if they see any heavy bands of snow.
Again, the heaviest snow will be located in the higher elevations, but by the weekend the heavy snow could be pushing down to lower elevations.
