27 Nov 2017, 9:50 am

Periods of heavy snow have been moving through the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California over the last 24 hours, creating slow travel conditions. Snow has been reported down to 3,000 feet, with accumulations down to 5,000 feet. Snow covered roads and slippery travel has been reported throughout most of the Sierra.

Up to a foot has been reported on Mammoth Mountain, with 4″ to 7″ reported at many of the popular ski resorts. Winter Weather Advisories continue into this afternoon throughout the Sierra Nevada Range and for the Ruby Mountains and East Humboldt Range near Elko, Nevada.

Accumulations will continue this morning, with some areas seeing an additional 2″ to 6″. Localized amounts in Yosemite and elevations above 7,000 feet may approach 17″. Snowfall will gradually taper off this afternoon as moisture levels decrease in the upper levels of the atmosphere.
