Historic Flooding Continues in Louisiana

15 Aug 2016, 4:15 am

In the past 72 hours, rainfall totals have exceeded 2 feet in portions of Southern Louisiana, leaving tens of thousands evacuated out of their homes. Thousands of rescues have been made over the course of the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, a body was found along a river in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. This now bring the death toll to 4 fatalities, since this historic flooding starting on Thursday.

Some Louisiana residents say the damage is already done and they aren’t nervous about additional rainfall yet to come over these next couple of days.

The heavy rainfall has backed off southern portions of Louisiana early Sunday morning. While the heaviest rainfall has moved off toward Eastern Texas. This system is still going to produce some scattered rain showers throughout the week due to a low pressure system which is still sitting over Eastern Texas. By Wednesday, an additional 2″ – 10“ is expected throughout central Southern Louisiana and Texas.
