An icy mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow will be developing in the Northeast over the next 24 hours. Winter Weather Advisories and Freezing Rain Advisories have been issued for the region. Up to a .10″ of ice is possible. Snowfall totals may climb above 6″ over the next couple of days into New England.
A low pressure center and warm front will push the first area of moisture into the region today. It will fall as mainly snow through this evening.
Another wave of moisture will stream into the area Tuesday morning. A mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow could produce icy travel conditions in areas where temperatures are near or below freezing.
As the warm continues to lift northward, snow and ice will spread across New England. As temperatures climb above freezing south of the warm front, rain showers will be developing.
