Increasing Severe Weather Chances for Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas by Friday

4 Oct 2017, 12:13 pm

The severe weather forecast will be increasing later this week for the Southern and Central Plains.  There is a Marginal risk of severe weather for New Mexico and Colorado Wednesday and Thursday for the isolated threat of large hail. That Marginal risk will be increasing to a Slight risk over Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas by Friday afternoon.

The weather set-up is looking ideal for severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon.

By Friday, there will strong mid to upper level winds right over the Texas Panhandle, Western Oklahoma and southern Kansas.  Factor these strong winds with the chance for clearing of morning cloud cover, that means there will be prime conditions for severe thunderstorms. The biggest threat for severe weather will be large hail and damaging winds. There will also be an isolated threat for tornadoes, but it is still a little too far out to determine how big of a tornado threat there will be over this area.
