As flood waters continue to threaten portions of Iowa as the Cedar River rises, residents could not sit back and watch their beloved Paramount Theatre, in Cedar Rapids be destroyed by rising waters.
In a appeal for help, the theater wrote on their Facebook page: ” HELP NEEDED: VenuWorks of Cedar Rapids is preparing for the flood today by sandbagging the U.S. Cellular Center and Paramount Theatre. Volunteers are needed to assist. If you are interested in helping, please bring work gloves and shovels (if you have them) to either venue. We have staff at both locations ready to give direction. Thank you for your support!”

And help they did. Volunteers removed more than 800 chairs from the venue in preparation of flood waters.
