Isolated Severe Storms for the Northeast Tuesday

24 Oct 2017, 10:30 am

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Northeast as we move into Tuesday afternoon and evening.  One change is the severe weather chances are lower than they looked early this morning.  There is a still a marginal risk of severe weather for parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania for an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm.

The severe weather risks are not high, but there is still a threat for large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Based on the slow movement with this front, the rain chances should last through the afternoon and evening. The heavy rain should be moving southwest to northeast…so that means the rain will be early in the day for eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey and later in the day for New York and Massachusetts.

Heavy Rain Possible

Some areas could see some heavy rainfall with the potential of 1 to 3 inches.  Flash flooding will be possible, especially in the areas that have already seen heavy rainfall.
