Jose is currently a Category 1 hurricane turning just off the coast of North Carolina and Virginia Tuesday morning. Areas like the Outer Banks of North Carolina are already starting to see and feel the storm’s impacts. For a portion of Tuesday morning, the Outer Bank’s Highway 12 was closed due to coastal flooding.
Bands of rain from Jose were pushing into coastal areas Tuesday with winds sustained around 20 mph with even stronger gusts. Jose’s impacts will be stretching from the Carolinas all the way to portions of Maine.
As Jose continues on its track, areas near Cape Cod will start to see effects such as increasing winds and coastal flooding and erosion.
Our own John Van Pelt was on Highway 12 in Rodanthe, NC showing Jose’s impacts in that portion of the country.
