Jose Now a Category 4 Hurricane

Jose has been upgraded to a category 4 hurricane.

The hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour with gusts reaching to 185 mph. The minimum central pressure is 942 mb, and it is moving west-northwest at 18 mph.

On Friday morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that after a flight into the storm, they found that the hurricane was much stronger than previously estimated.

Jose is in a fairly favorable environment and is likely to intensify over the next day or so.

The NHC says that there is no significant change to the track forecast, and Jose is expected to turn northwest before reaching the Leeward Islands on Saturday.
