An active weather pattern will persist through the end of the week across the Midwest. There will be multiple rounds of showers and some thunderstorms through Saturday. There is the possibility that a few of these storms will be strong to severe, with small hail and gusty winds.
The first wave will be expected Thursday night through Friday, with a brief break in the action by Friday afternoon. The next wave of rain will then begin on Saturday and will continue into Sunday.
While this will be a prolonged period of rain over the next few days, it will not be a washout. However, the prolonged potential for moderate to locally heavy rain may lead to ponding of water and possibly minor river flooding by the weekend.
Rainfall accumulations by the weekend are expected to range from 1 to 2 inches, with some areas receiving over two inches of rainfall. The active period of weather will continue into early next week, with additional chances of strong to severe storms.
